Taiwan Changed So Prison Museum

TAIPEI, KOMPAS.com - long in Chiayi Prison which was built nearly 100 years ago, along with prison Abashiri in Hokkaido Japan, is now a prison that has the architectural style of Pennsylvania.
Taiwan Ministry of Home Affairs in 2005 announced this prison as a national historic building. After more than two years of renovation is expected to be completed in early September 2011.

Chiayi old jail was built in the Japanese colonial era in 1919. The prison was completed and used immediately in 1922. This prison was originally known as the "Institute for Criminal Affairs Chiayi Tainan branch".
After the national government moved to Taiwan, renamed "Taiwan Chiayi Prison." At the same time also building a prison Taipei, Taichung, Tainan. In 1994 a new prison is located in Chiayi county Lucao completed and official use, the old prison in the city became no longer functioning.
